Photo assignment - week 1

I've realized that one of the reasons this blog doesn't get updated as much as I would like (in addition to work, family, church, life, etc) is that I get too pressed on sharing a lot of photos at once. Instead, I'm beginning to think I should just share the shots as I have them. So I'll try that for a while and see how that goes. That's not to say there won't be longer posts when I have them, just that those kind of posts will no longer be the priority. For now at least.

So the topic for this short one: this spring, the Apostles NYC photo team has weekly challenges for the members to expand their creative vision. For week 1, the challenge was to get in close.

Up first: back to the subway. This was from the 175th St subway station up in the Heights. Taken with the telephoto to isolate the railing from the background:

For the second one, I tried to get a little more creative. These are 3 glass beads on a mirror spotlight by my trusty high contrast light source: a mini maglite. I took this with a reverse-mounted old Minolta 55mm F1.7. Not sure I'm sold yet, but I think it's interesting at least.
