The assignment for week 5 was water. I've taken quite a few shots that include water over the years, and several of them can be found on this blog - including

here, and
here. But this time around, I just couldn't find time to shoot water. No ice, no rain, no ponds, not even the East River. Or the Hudson for that matter. But I didn't want to completely ignore the assignment, so in the spirit of things I dug in the archives for this little still life:

This was a fun one to create - just water, food color, and a remotely triggered strobe aimed at the back wall. I actually shot this before I had my Cowboy Studios remote trigger, so I had to trigger the strobe via the pop-up flash on the camera. This meant that there were hotspots on the glasses that had to be painstakingly cloned out, and my control over the strobe was very limited. Now that I have a legitimate remote trigger, this may be worth another look.
